Hi All,
Long time no speak on this blog. This post is a bit of a departure, but feel free to ignore.
I've dabbled in music years ago, and just recently (thanks to my friendly Mac with Garage Band) I've started making music again. I'd like to get opinions on a rough demo I've made. Since I don't know you and you don't know me, I trust you'll give it to me straight. Let me know what you think!
My song can be found at http://gurusteve.bandcamp.com/

you got a knack for it g!
good song structure
nice engineering
good sense of building a tune.
suggestion: voice lessons (or sing a whole lot)
good voice & pitch too but I can hear your musculature in the upper chest is straining. lessons and practice will help you to connect with the feeling of singing more, loosen you up. you'll resonate and the whole package will shine.
sing live! aim for one of those open mics in harvard sq.
Thanks anon! Yeah, i've really never sung before in my life. Always wished to find a singer but it's hard to find someone that fits so I just decided to do it myself. Definitely my weakness...thanks so much for the feedback!!!
Thanks for this post. It Very nice Blog. It was a very good Blog. I like it. Thanks for sharing knowledge. Ask you to share good Blog again.
This is really an interesting blog as it focuses on the very important topic. i came to know about so many things or tips.
Anon here again.
Just had another listen to the track and your voice. It sounds like the upper nasal cavity is tight. Could be from smoking? Also just tightness in body from stress of living. Anyways, I suggest trying some naive overtone singing. You can teach yourself this in a hot shower or bath (good to warm up body first). Experiment with shaping the lips and tongue in the mouth and see what sound you can make. To be more precise, it's about directing the vibrational resonance to different parts of the body, from the gut all up through the throat and into the head. I suggest learning how to vibrate the area behind the nose to open up the nasal cavity for a fuller voice sound. Here's a video:

Peace
Thanks anon!! Will check that out!
i don't smoke but definitely have tightness of course, and I tend to have allergies, some stuffiness at times and even asthma. In general that stuff hasn't bothered me much at all lately, but it might factor into what you're hearing...?
